If you see a class you’re interested in but can’t make it, have a special bug you’ve been saving to pin but want guidance, or want to learn another skill you see products of in the shop, let us know! For a flat fee + supplies, we are more than happy to give you a place to learn & someone to learn from!

Reccurring Classes
Bones In Jars is perhaps best known for Bug Class! Officially titled: Insect Pinning & Display Class.
Bug Class is offered two weekend days every month, so if you can’t make it to one, fear not! There will be more.

Bug Pinning & Display Class: Beginner - April 2026
If you're brand new to bug pinning or just want a fun insect-themed way to spend an afternoon, this class is for you! Come hang out at Bones In Jars, learn how to pin bugs, and display them in unique, creative ways! There will be various beetles to choose from as well as decorations to display them with!
This event is offered twice on separate days (Saturday, April 11th & Sunday, April 12th), both 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM in the Bones In Jars Storefront-Studio. Please make sure to select the desired date upon purchase!
Ticket Sales End the day before the first event (Friday, April 10th)
$25 Per Person (Bones In Jars does absorb fees but the price will be slightly more after tax).
Each participant will receive 1 bug for pinning, one small piece of foam for pinning on, one display, and various mosses, dried flowers, & accessories to choose from for decorating.
Each participant will get to keep the display they create, but all supplies (pins not still in the bug, forceps, & glue) used for the project must remain at Bones In Jars.
All ages are welcome, but an adult must accompany those 10 and under.

The Rare Bird Market is happening once again at Lakefront Brewery in Milwaukee!
Thursday, March 12th, Bones In Jars will be closed so we can be a vendor at the event! Stop by the brewery 4:00 - 8:00 PM to see us and tons of other awesome artists!

Bug Pinning & Display Class: lepidoptera - February 2026
This new class at Bones In Jars offers a fresh side of Bug Pinning for the slightly more experienced amateur entomologist. If you’ve taken our Beginner Bug Pinning & Display Class or are generally familiar with the process of pinning but want to know more about pinning members of the Order Lepidoptera (Butterflies & Moths), this class is for you!
Come hang out at Bones In Jars, learn how to pin Butterflies, and display them in unique, creative ways! There will be various swallowtails to choose from as well as decorations to display them with.
This event is offered twice on separate days (Saturday, February 14th & Sunday, February 15th), both 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM in the Bones In Jars Storefront-Studio. Please make sure to select the desired date upon purchase!
Ticket Sales End the day before the first event (Friday, February 13th)
Important To Note: Specimens may not fully dry by the end of the class. If you are interested in giving your piece more dry time contact us before the class so we can schedule a “Part Two” Session where you can display your specimen on another day for a $5 fee.
This class may use open-face displays which means your specimen will not have exterior protection. If this is a concern, you are welcome to bring in your own display to use! Just make sure it isn’t too big in case you have to share table space.
$55 Per Person (Bones In Jars does absorb fees but the price will be slightly more after tax).
Each participant will receive Butterfly for pinning, one small piece of foam for pinning on, one display, and various mosses, dried flowers, & accessories to choose from for decorating.

Bug Pinning & Display Class: Coleoptera - January 2026
This new class at Bones In Jars offers a fresh side of Bug Pinning for the slightly more experienced amateur entomologist. If you’ve taken our Bug Pinning & Display Class: Beginner or are generally familiar with the process of pinning but want to know more about pinning Bigger members of the Order Coleoptera (Beetles), this class is for you!
Come hang out at Bones In Jars, learn how to pin XL sized beetles, and display them in unique, creative ways! There will be various beetles to choose from as well as decorations to display them with.
This event is offered twice on separate days (Saturday, January 17th & Sunday, January 18th), both 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM in the Bones In Jars Storefront-Studio. Please make sure to select the desired date upon purchase!

Bug Class is so popular, we wanted to specialize it for the holidays! Come hang out at Bones In Jars and create a bug ornament of your design using round wood bases, a variety of bugs, and lots of fun accessories. All creative choices are up to you!
This workshop does differ from the usual Bug Classes: you will not learn how to pin your bugs in this class, just given space to create a unique oddity ornament.

Vendor at The Rare Bird Market: Nightmare At The Brewery
Bones In Jars will be closed Thursday, October 23rd so we can once again be a vendor at The Rare Bird Market!
The Rare Bird Market: Nightmare At The Brewery will be from 5:00 - 10:00 PM at Lakefront Brewery, 1872 North Commerce Street, Milwaukee WI. Rare Bird is an all-spooky, all-oddity night market, this time themed fully as a Halloween Bash!
